About us
Locally Owned Painting Company in Central Pennsylvania
Anderson Pro Painting has been a locally owned painting company in Central Pennsylvania since 2005, and by our own admission the best one you’ve never heard of. For two decades we’ve been the company other companies call. We’ve painted the colleges, school districts, hospitals, warehouses and manufacturing plants you drive past every day, the kind of work most people never think twice about, held to a standard most never get to see. Odds are you’ve already stood in a building we painted and had no idea it was us.
Here’s what sets us apart, and it matters more than it sounds. We do all of our own painting. Every painter on your job is our own full-time employee, not a stranger pulled in for the week. For the specialty trades that sometimes go with a paint project, pressure washing, wallpaper and epoxy floors, we bring in a small bench of dedicated specialists we’ve worked with for eight to ten years running. Established companies, fully insured, held to our standard. That long partnership is the point. We don’t churn through whoever is cheapest. The crew we promise is the crew that shows up, accountable to us and covered by our insurance and workers’ comp. Take care of your people and your customers feel it. That’s a win on both ends.
That's what we're really about. Winning for our customers and our employees, because we've learned you can't do one without the other. How we get there comes down to three things we don't bend on. Truth, Quality, and Character.
Our mission is simple: Winning for our Customers and Employees.
Our mission is simple. Winning for our Customers and Employees. When you hire Anderson Pro, you win, because the job is done right and on schedule. You also win by telling us what you need. A comfortable budget, your timing, the grade of paint you want, and how long the project should take. We build the plan to fit. The one thing we don't flex on is quality, because that's our standard and it holds every time. And because we treat our painters as career employees instead of disposable subcontractors, our people win too, which is exactly why your crew is better. The two wins are connected.
How we win
Truth · Quality · Character
Truth
We'll tell you the truth even when it isn't what you want to hear. Honestly, it matters more to us that you trust us than that you like us. Everybody hates the contractor who swears he'll be there in a week and then leaves you waiting a month. That might win the job, but it loses the relationship, and it's no way to still be standing after twenty years. So we give it to you straight. An honest timeline, the truth when we can't do something, and what the work should really cost, even when that isn't the lowest number you'll hear. We'd rather lose a bid than lose your trust, because trust is the only thing you can actually build on.
Quality
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
For us, quality isn't just how the paint goes on the wall. It's how we run the whole business. Everything we do is measured against a standard, so we can repeat excellence every single day, on every job. Picture hiring a contractor who falls behind, can't make payroll that week, and suddenly your project stalls. Who pays for that? You do, the customer, the one who held up your end of the deal. We think that's backwards. An agreement is an agreement. If something goes sideways on our end, that's ours to make right, not yours to pay for. You shouldn't feel it, not even once, even when it costs us to fix. And when your project goes well, we win right alongside you. That's exactly why so many of our customers call us back.
Character
Character is doing the right thing when no one's looking, and it's the very first thing we hire for. We actually built our interviews around these three values, and character is the one that matters most. We don't cut corners. Shortcuts have no place in the long game, of business or of life, and at the end of the day they don't really serve anybody. The way we win is simple, and we don't lose sight of it. We make sure you win.
Truth makes it real. Quality makes it repeatable. Character makes it ours. Together, that’s how we win for you.
Doug's story
Doug Anderson started Anderson Pro Painting in 2005, before he’d finished his degree at Shippensburg University. He had a ladder, a truck, and a belief he’s never let go of: you make the world better by adding value to the people around you.
He’d already spent a year proving it. Doug served with City Year, an AmeriCorps program in inner-city Philadelphia, working with underprivileged children before attending College. He went on to serve six years on the board of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area in his late 30’s three as Vice President, his final year as President. Today he sits on the board of M2B, a nonprofit that helps men coming out of recovery centers find long-term housing. To Doug, none of that is separate from the painting business. It’s the same job: leave people better than you found them.
In 2010, five years into running the company, he earned an Executive MBA from Villanova University. Most contractors learn business by surviving it. Doug did both and just as case in it in how the company is built: 33 full-time employees, 27 painters, 14 vehicles, and full benefits for everyone on the payroll. That last part is unusual in this trade, and it’s deliberate. Painters here are career employees, not disposable labor. It’s the single biggest reason the crew that shows up at your building is better than the one down the street.
The math hasn’t changed since the first job: quality is paramount. Not quality as a sales word quality as a standard the whole business is measured against, every day, on every job. And an agreement is an agreement. If something goes wrong on our end, that’s ours to fix, not yours to pay for.
He’ll also tell you the truth, including when it costs him the work. Doug would rather lose a bid than lose a relationship which is a large part of why this company is still standing after twenty years, and why so many customers call back.
Doug lives in Monroe Township with his wife, his stepson, and two dogs, and runs Anderson Pro Painting, INC. out of Shiremanstown. The next ten years are about proving the same thing at a larger scale: that a painting company can win for its customers and its people at the same time not one at the other’s expense.
